Tuairisc Aontaithe ón mBord Bainistíochta/Agreed Report from the Board of Management

Dé Céadaoin, An 23ú Aibreán, 2020

Bhuail An Bord Bainistíochta ar an gCéadaoin, An 23ú Aibreán, 2020 ar a 7.30 i.n. Cianchruinniú ar ‘zoom’ a bhí ann.

Seo an tuairisc aontaithe ón gcruinniú sin.

  • Ceanglaítear ar gach bord bainistíochta beartas nua iontrála a dhréachtú de réir riachtanais An Achta Oideachais (Ligean Isteach i Scoileanna) 2018 tar éis dul i gcomhairle leis an bpátrún, le foireann na scoile agus le Comhairle na dTuistí. Ní mór ráiteas a bheith sa bheartas nua nach ndéanfaidh an scoil idirdhealú maidir le haon iarratasóir ar iontráil ar aon cheann d’fhorais sonraithe éagsúla. Ní mór an dréachtbheartas nua a chur ar aghaidh chuig an bPátrún dá gceadú. Ar cheadú an Phátrúin a bheith faighte, ní mór don scoil an beartas nua iontrála a fhoilsiú. Tar éis próiséas cuimsitheach comhairliúcháin leis na páirtnéirí san oideachais atá thuas luaite d’ullmhaigh Bord Bainistíochta Gaelscoil Choráin dréachtbheartas nua agus cuireadh é chuig deoise Chluain Uamha dona gcigireacht agus dona mbreithmheastóireacht. Roinnfear moltaí leis an mBord i mí Meán Fómhair agus tabharfar coicíos don Bhord chun na moltaí a thógaint san áireamh agus chun beartas iontrála nua a fhoilsiú. Beidh feidhm ag na socruithe nua maidir le hiontrálacha scoile sa scoilbhliain 2021/22 agus i mblianta dá éis. Ní bhaineann na socruithe nua le hiontrálacha i scoilbhliain 2020/21.
  • Ba mhaith le Bord Bainistíochta na scoile aitheantas fé leith a thabhairt do phobal na scoile ar fad as a mbuanseasmhacht in uair na hanachaine agus as a solúbthacht i rith na paindéime reatha seo. Tá moladh go deo tuillte ag gach éinne as a gcomhoibriú, as a bhfoighne, as a dtuiscint agus as a rannpháirtíocht ghníomhach le cianfhoghlaim. Mhol an Bord an cultúr cúraim den scoth atá cothaithe ag an scoil chun cabhrú le paistí na scoile, lena dtuistí agus le foireann na scoile le linn na paindéime seo. Léiríonn an cultúr cúraim seo an luach tábhachtach a cuirtear air mar chuid d’éiteas na scoile. Dúradh paidir speisialta do phobal na scoile, dona dteaghlaigh agus dona mhuintir go bhfanfaidís slán sábháilte agus gabhadh buíochas ó chroí le gach éinne as an spiorad comhoibritheach atá le feiscint go soiléir.
  • I litir chuig scoileanna uilig sa deoise chinntigh an tEaspag Liam Ó Croidheáin go bhfuil sacraimint An Chéad Chomaoineach Naofa agus sacraimint An Chóineartú curtha ar ceal anois de bhárr na paindéime. De thoradh ar seo, ní chéiliúrfar na sacraimintí roimh saoire an tSamhraidh.
Tá an-chuid caonach bailithe ar dhíon na scoile agus tá sé mar aidhm ag an mBord díriú ar seo maraon le glanadh na siúiteanna i rith an tSamhraidh. Caithfear an fhadhb rochtana do chliabhán ardaithe oiriúnach a fhiosrú mar chuid den phróiséas. Tar éis réamh-mheasúnaithe tugadh le fios don Bhord go bhfuil an dhá thaobh den scoil ró-chúng chun chliabhán ardaithe oiriúnach a thabhairt isteach. Déanfar iniúchadh ar bhealaí sábháilte a bheidh ceadaithe timpeall ar seo agus fostófar innealtóir siabhialta chun sonraíocht phoist a ullmhú sula lorgófar praghasanna luaite. Pléadh an fhéidireacht chun uisce te ar theocht oiriúnach a bheith sa scoil. Infheistíocht ollmhór airgid a bheadh i gceist. Fostófar innealtóir meicniúla agus leictreachais chun sonraíocht phoist a ullmhú sula lorgófar praghasanna luaite.

Beidh an chéad chruinniú eile den Bhord Bainistíochta ar an Mháirt, An 26ú Bealtaine 2020. Cianchruinniú ar ‘zoom’ a bheidh i gceist.

*****************************************************************

The Board of Management of Gaelscoil Choráin met on Thursday, the 23rd of April, 2020. The distance meeting was held using ‘zoom’ as a platform.

The following is the agreed report from the meeting.

  • All boards of management are required to draft a new admission policy in accordance with The Education (Admissions to School’s) Act 2018 requirements following consultation with the patron, the staff of the school and the Parents Council. The new policy must contain a statement that the school will not discriminate against an applicant for admission on any of a number of grounds specified. The new draft policy must be forwarded to the Patron for approval. On approval by the Patron the new school admission policy must be published by the school. In complying with these requirements and following a comprehensive consultative process with the above mentioned partners in education the Board of Management of Gaelscoil Choráin prepared a draft policy and forwarded it to the diocese of Cloyne for their approval. Recommendations if applicable will be made to the Board in September and once taken on board the Board will formally ratify and publish the new admissions policy. The new arrangements will apply to school admissions for the 2021/22 school year and subsequent years. The new arrangements do not apply for admission to the 2020/21 school year.
  • The Board of Management would like to pay special acknowledgement to the entire school community for their forbearance at this difficult time and for their flexibility during this Covid-19 pandemic. The cooperation, patience, understanding and engagement of all with distance learning is praiseworthy. The Board praised the wonderful culture of care that is cultivated in the school to support students, their parents and staff during this pandemic, a culture that is reflective of the ethos and of the core values of the school. The Board prayed for the health and safety of the entire school community and for their immediate and extended families and they thanked everyone for the cooperative spirit that is very much in evidence.
  • In a letter to all schools in the diocese, Bishop William Crean confirmed that the sacraments of First Holy Communion and of Confirmation are cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic. He confirmed that the sacraments will not take place before the summer holidays. The diocese will make contact with schools regarding this situation once they have a clearer road map to follow.
  • The Board are currently researching minor work projects in the school. Moss has been collecting on the roof of the school over a significant number of years. The Board would now like to attend to this work project and to having the chutes cleaned over the summer. However advice must be sought on addressing the access difficulty that presents. Following a preliminary inspection the Board has been informed that both sides of the school are too narrow for a suitable cherry picker to gain access to the back yard so as to scale the required heights. Safe and permissible alternative access options will be considered. A civil engineer will be employed to draw up a works specification before any quotes will be sought. The Board discussed the possibility of having hot water at a suitable temperature available throughout the school. A significant investment would be required in this regard. A mechanical and electrical engineer will be employed to draw up a works specification before any quotes will be sought.

The next meeting of the Board of Management will be on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020. The distance meeting will be held using ‘zoom’ as a platform.
